rankings are in order. my top 5 books in the entire riordanverse (with explanations), and then my individual rankings for each series PLUS my rankings of the series themselves.

    1. The Titan's Curses

    literally THEE danny origin book of all time. this book explains so much of why i turned out the way i did. bianca di angelo you are the absolute character of all time and you always will be. it's got ghosts, it's got fraught sibling relationships, it's got the hunters of artemis. truly a masterpiece.

    2. Son of Neptune

    plot-wise, i have my fair share of problems with this book, but i can't deny how much each of the main characters impacted tween danny and how deeply i held their arcs at the time of reading. it's this high up mostly because of nostalgia, but also because there's something magical about frank zhang and hazel levesque.

    3. Sword of Summer

    i often say that heroes of olympus is my favorite riordanverse series (tragically), but magnus chase and the gods of asgard is the most well-executed (besides the original percy jackson series), and i think the sword of summer is a great first book, a great story on its own, and a great comeback from blood of olympus which was...disapointing.

    4. House of Hades

    it's the nico coming out book, OF COURSE it has to make my top five. this book marks the day rick riordan learned what gay people were. and folks? we were all better for it. nico aside, this book also has some really great stuff for hazel, jason, and frank (discounting the massive fatphobia moments in frank's arc), and those are some of my favorite little guys!

    5. Battle of the Labirynth

    what an absolute slam-dunk of a second-to-last book. the scene at geryon's ranch coupled with the entire calypso sequence? man what a book. this one did a lot for kid danny, i'll tell ya.
